Stradavar/Stradavar Prime comes  with a couple different fire modes, with the ability to toggle between them and has always been one of those weapons thats had a bit of a small but cult following since it came out, where honestly, the majority of players kind of forgot it existed. So I was super surprised when it came out as the new prime weapon.

Its stayed true to the roots of the original weapon with the dual fire modes, the fully auto and then the single shot. Fully autos damage split almost equal across the phyisical damage types, high crit chance and crit damage multiplier and then an ok status chance, enough for a status build to work.

The single fire is more of the same really, over double the damage, this time the split though is in favour of slash which is really nice, 30% crit and a 2.8 times multiplier and an even higher status chance of 22%, which means that handily, the same build actually works for both the primary and secondary fire, which makes things very each when it comes to modding.

BUILD

Build wise, theres nothing particularly crazy going on here as you can see, its a fairly standard crit build. We’re running viral on here because the single shot procs slash like crazy and with a good status chance like this, we can proc viral pretty reliably as well. Then combining that with either Bladed Rounds for more crit damage, which also will buff those slash procs, or going for a bane mod, which doubles the effect of your slash procs on the enemy since it boosts the base damage of the shot that causes the proc, and then the proc itself. I personally prefer the bane, but I know a lot of people aren’t too fond of switching those out all the time, so the Bladed Rounds came out the better option here. Corrosive with Vigilante Armaments works nicely to, and will deal with most of the content you want to put it up against as well, so theres a bit of room with how you want to mod this. We’ve got Vile Acceleration on here too because the single shot has that 1 metre of punch through built in, so boosting that rather low fire rate is definitely great, although you could switch to Primed Shred if you want to focus on that fully auto mode and add a bit of punch through on.

My Thoughts

So, is it any good? And well yeah, its the top of the pile of the automatic and single shot battle rifle type weapons, with the exception of the amazing prisma grinlok. Its easy to question why the Stradavar Prime exists when we’ve already got the Tiberon Prime which is an extremely similar weapon, even down to the multiple fire modes, but the honest truth is that both the auto and semi auto fire modes on the Stradavar actually outkill the Tiberon. Theres not a lot in it, it is fairly close for the most part, but the Stradavar definitely does come out ahead in that department, and to add insult to injury, it even has a slightly better riven disposition than the Tiberon too, so you can pull slightly bigger numbers from your rivens.

The difference isn’t so big though that it becomes Stradavar being the clear best choice, in all honesty, I think if you like your Tiberon, the Stradavar might not make you drop it and move to that instead. While levelling it, you really could have switched the Stradavar and Tiberon out and would barely have noticed. Don’t get me wrong, the Stradavar is a great weapon, it deals with everything we have in the game and it deals with it well, and it looks and sounds absolutely fantastic, it kind of just left me wanting more, something a little bit different to play with.

Maybe you feel differently about it, drop a comment below with your thoughts!
